ABOUT
Zoe Rye is an artist based in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in May 2024, with a focus in Painting and Drawing. Rye has previously exhibited work at the Knoxville Museum of Art and The Institute of Contemporary Art in Chattanooga,TN.
Rye is an introspective artist, interested in analyzing the past experiences and circumstances that have led her to today. She is specifically interested in the brain processes that interpret and obscure memories. Though she tends to work from personal experiences, Rye seeks a level of ambiguity within her work. Rather than attempting to accurately depict one specific memory, she works to capture the essence of an accumulation of memories. She often asks herself: how can a collection of experiences work together to shift someone’s opinions, shames, or traumas?
